Board of Directors Biography

Sara Torres founded HLAC in 1999, and serves as Advisor of the organization. She was born in Puerto Rico. Sara earned a BA in Psychology from Rutgers in 1976, and an MA in Educational Psychology from Montclair State University in 1980. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at the School of Psychology at Kean University. Prior to this position, she worked as an Academic Advisor/Counselor for EEO/Kean University; Consultant and Coordinator for the Western Regional Office of the National Board of the YWCA (Missouri/Arizona); Director of Programs and Coordinator for ASPIRA Inc. of NJ, and as support staff for several years at the United Nations, (stationed in Indonesia for one year). Sara is a Mentor for HLAC.
